It's A New Day!!!

Hi Everyone,

Were back, we took off during the month of January to regroup, the headquarters moved from Miami back to New York City and we were exhausted. Between bringing in the New Year's, blessing Dr. Martin Luther King and hitting the red carpet at the Hip Hop Inauguration Ball in Washington D.C., the staff could barely catch their breath.

It's great to be back in New York City, there is so much going on here which will benefit our readers, so that is exciting.

The inauguration of President Barack Obama, was an wonderful historical event and we are extremely proud that EVOL had the opportunity to work the red carpet, and watch and feel the love for President Obama.

It's a new day, if you haven't had the opportunity to hear Will.i.am's new song, you need to download it, it represents an amazing time in our country. It's Black History Month, visit EVOL's Event page to find out what's going on in your neighborhood.

Happy New Years!

Happy New Years, did you have a safe one? I stayed at home, at the strike of midnight, we toasted the new year with champagne and kissed the nearest person. I hope you and your family did the same and had a safe and healthy new year.

Now, how about some the New Years resolutions, have you made any? Well, a few of my girlfriends and I (who will not be named)are starting our annual commitment to lose weight, better know as a diet......I don't know about you but I had some great food over the holiday's and probably put on 3-5 pounds. but, i don't regret a bite. I will keep you posted on the diet, I hope to lose 2 pounds a week.

What are your New Year resolutions? Make sure they are manageable or you will be in the same place next year. Happy New Years!!!

Barack Obama, The First Black President

Are you pinching yourself, did this really happen!!!! Like you I was holding my breath on election night, hoping but also saying to myself, if it doesn't happen everything will be okay.

In particular, in the beginning of the broadcast when John McCain won the first couple of states, I was thinking, Oh my God, can't be, it can't be. I saw all of those black people on line in Florida...

Then, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Pennsylvania (don't quote me on the order), I just know, state after state kept rolling in and we were on our feet, we were screaming, jumping, crying, on our knees and then....that magic moment.

Ladies and gentlemen, Barack Obama, is the first Black President Elect. I will never forget this moment for as long as I shall live. Never, in my lifetime did I ever conceive that a black man would be elected President.

I cried for my parents, I cried for myself and my family. Praise God, miracles can happen.

What's next... gathering my family and going to Barack Obama's inauguration on January 20, 2009. Don't miss this, one of the most historic moments in American history!!!

Don't Let the Polls Fool You !! Complete the Circle

Hello Friends,

Well, here we are less than three weeks from one of the most important elections in recent history and the world is watching and waiting. I am cautiously optimistic that the next President of the United States will be Senator Barack Obama.

Yes, that young Senator from Illinois has beaten the odds to become not only the Democratic nominee but is now ahead in the polls by double digits. Of course, for Obama supporters this is excellent news, but what if we woke up on November 5th and discovered that the President-elect is Senator John McCain ?

After you pick yourself up off of the floor while gasping for air ask yourself... How could that be ? What about those polls ? What happened to that double digit lead ? It is a very real possibility that prospective voters, for whatever reason, didn't tell pollsters the truth or simply change their minds. After all, isn't that what democracy is all about?

But what if people are saying that they will vote for Senator Obama but in the end just can't or don't vote for Obama. It happens that there is a so called phenomenon which referred to as the "Bradley Effect" which is named after former mayor of Los Angeles Tom Bradley who ran for Governor in 1982 and he lost to a white republican even though he was ahead in the polls.Also, there was former Governor of Virginia Doug Wilder who ran for Governor in 1989 and although polls had him with a comfortable 10 point lead he barely squeaked by.

In both instances, it is thought that white voters said one thing to pollsters and did the exact opposite in the voting booth. This "Effect" is real but there is no way of predicting its possible impact. Of course, there could be more sinister activity underfoot to throw the Obama base off balance by trying to lull the Obama base into a false sense of premature victory.

We can not afford to take our eyes off of the ball. So what does this all mean ? It means that if we take even one vote for granted we can lose this election. Just like that !! We can't afford as a nation to sleep this contest. There is no room for error or complacency.

Everyone has a duty on Election Day to cast their vote and go an extra yard and help someone else get to the polls or voluteer at the polls. It is imperative that you call everyone in your family and social network to make certain that they didn't let the day slip away and don't make any assumptions.

No one who has the right to vote, should throw this opportunity away. We owe it to our children and our children's children. Most of all we owe it to every person who came before us and struggled every step of the way. We owe it to those who marched for us, who were beaten for us, who boycotted and walked miles for us, who went to jail for us, who prayed for us and who gave the ultimate sacrifice and died for us. Make sure that their sacrifices were not in vein.

OJ Simpson, This time Guilty by the Court's Standards.

OJ, just couldn't walk away and be cool, no he had to keep messing around out there in the street. Anybody with good sense knew that people were not going to forget that he killed his wife and got away with it.

Now, I am the CEO and Founder of EVOL Unlimited, and I always thought that OJ Simpson got away with killing his wife, which I do not condone, but the LA Prosecutors office did not prove his guilt, hence his acquittal.

Herein lies, his stupidity, he for whatever reason, needed to stay in the limelight, he lived on the wild side and continued to have destructive relationships with women from other cultures...why is that relevant you might ask, because when he was at his lowest, who did he call on for support, the black community and the black community rallied around him.

After his acquittal he dropped the black community like a hot potato and continued his fixation with certain types of women.

Well the Goldman family never forgot, and they kept the wheels of justice turning to seek justice for the murder of their son, and so they should.

OJ, didn't get it then, he didn't count his blessing and keep a low profile. He could have taken his football pension and rode out into the sunset, but no, the same ego that led him to murder his wife, led him to that fateful hotel room, and hence his now possible sentence of life in jail.

Many of you may disagree with me, but maybe this is the universe completing the circle of life and this was inevitable.

EVOL's big day is here, after months of planning, mind changing, long nights and being scared half to death. Six long months of executing a vision from a dream, after 22 years of working in Corporate America, I took a "Leap of Faith", and decided to start my own business.

Often we are resistance to going out on our own, especially when we have a family and bills to pay. However, my father used to say " Nothing beats a blank but a try", so I did. The lessons I learned along with the blessings of God were priceless.. Family and friends were unfailing in their support and always answered the phone.

My journey is not new, it's been traveled by many, but it's new for me. I believe in our community, I don't believe that the mainstream media portrays us as positively as they should, hence, my journey.

I am excited about my journey that has now turned into a trip and I am looking forward to more aaaahhh moments when instead of feeling like I am going to cry, if I don't get it right, I burst into laughter.

Today is my father's birthday, if he were alive today, he would be 77 years old, my father had very high standards for excellence, for which I thank him. For taking the time out of your busy lives today, to join me on my journey, I Thank You....more to come.
